Enjoy a scenic floatplane trip along Alaska’s Inside Passage, sea kayak into a rainforest
wilderness with bald eagle nests, and view bears at Admiralty
Island’s Pack Creek Bear Sanctuary. This is an amazing
and diverse trip, perfect for adventure photographers.
Enjoy a cup of early morning coffee or tea as you are outfitted at the tour office in Juneau.
Have your camera ready for your 25-minute scenic floatplane
flight to Windfall Island in the Admiralty Island National
Monument. You’ll land on the water then paddle a sea
kayak to the edge of the Pack Creek Brown Bear Sanctuary.
A short beach walk brings you to the mouth of Pack Creek,
where you may see Alaskan brown bears fishing for salmon
or feeding in the beach meadows. You may also join a marvelous
1 to 3 mile hike through the old-growth coastal rainforest
to an observation tower on upper Pack Creek.
This diverse adventure offers
you the opportunity to Paddle a kayak (about 45 minutes),
spend some time Hiking beaches and trails, and enjoy ample
time (up to five hours) viewing and photographing Alaskan
Brown Bears in their natural habitat. How much time spent
doing each activity is determined by the wishes of your
group.
Instruction and all gear provided.
No experience necessary. Be prepared for easy to moderate
hiking, sea kayaking, and possible inclement weather (rain
gear and boots provided). There are no facilities of any
kind in this wilderness area. Lunch is provided and stored
in underground lock boxes. Enjoy your picnic along a gravel
beach area away from bear feeding areas to avoid tempting
them to share your lunch.
Duration: 8-10 hours. Availability limited. Activity Level: Moderate physical effort:
Guests must be able to enter and exit the planes
and kayaks and also walk/hike over uneven and
slippery surfaces on occasion.
You must be relatively healthy, agile, and
able to hike on muddy and uneven terrain. You
will need to paddle and carry one end of a kayak
up the beach above high tide line. No previous
kayaking experience is necessary. Trips book
