Take
a tram up Mt. Roberts, then hike near the top with great views.
Experience it all! A city tour, a ride on the tram, and a walk on one of
Juneau's most spectacular mountains! Learn about the gold rush in the capital
city while passing through historic downtown Juneau. Then board the tram for an
effortless five-minute ride to the 1,800-foot level of Mount Roberts.
Hit the trail with an expert naturalist guide, and acquire a better
understanding of nature's ways in this
magical alpine area. Marvel at spectacular views across mountains and over
fiords. This is a place where meadow meets forest, and where porcupine, marmot,
and black bear share clean air with alpine wildflowers and twisty timberline
trees.
After the trail exploration we will return to the Nature Center for hot
cider. While on the mountain, you may choose to view the free films, enjoy the
displays, or partake in shopping and other fun activities. Your tram ticket is
good for unlimited day use. Come enjoy Juneau's Peak Experience!
Notes: Excursion time: 3 hours. Hike time 1.5 hours. This
excursion begins with a city bus tour departing
from your dock. Participants must be in
moderately good physical condition and able to
walk easily over uneven terrain. Comfortable
walking shoes are recommended. The
improved gravel trail includes several groups of
steps. This tour operates in all weather
conditions. In the early season, due to snow
levels on the mountain, you may walk an
alternate trail before ascending the Tram. Daily
