  • The marriage license application & rules are available on-line. In short, ...

  • There is a 3 day waiting period after the state receives your completed application.

  • A blood test is unnecessary.

  • You can fax or mail your completed application, along with a $40 fee to the State up to 3 months before your wedding day. (advise at least one month early, then call a week ahead of arrival to make sure it is ready and they will be open (weekdays, 8-5 excluding State holidays) and for timely pick up.

  • You are responsible for personally picking up the license timely regardless of any ground transportation arranged or included in your wedding package. If your documented travel itinerary shows that you will only be in town when their office is closed, like on a weekend or State holiday, you must contact the State directly (907) 465-3391 for special processing & notary via mail in ample time before you arrive.  You may also apply for and pick up your license at any State Vital Statistics office. You are the only one that can arrange your license and/or pick up.

  • On Your Wedding Day: You must bring your license with you to the wedding. Two witnesses are required.

  • The signed license is to be filed with the State after the wedding. For a certified copy of your marriage certificate for your records and legal proof of marriage, order a certified copy for $20. It is easiest to order this when apply for your marriage license.

  • An Alaska Heirloom Marriage Certificate by various Alaskan Artists is a nice souvenir available from the State on-line for about $60 and is suitable for framing.
